We are currently seeking an energetic Senior Estimator with mechanical, combustion and fabrication experience to help fill out our growing team. Reporting directly to the VP Contracts and working closely with other business units, this position is based in our Calgary office with responsibilities for project estimating and contract negotiation. The successful candidate will have expertise estimating fabricated process equipment with an emphasis on waste gas combustion and/or fired products.
Project Estimating Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the development of detailed project proposals maintaining functional oversight of the proposal from reception through award.
- Partner with the Sales team to qualify and track incoming opportunities.
- Maintain and build client relationships.
- Serve as primary point of contact for proposals, clarifications, and award.
- Review client Inquiry/RFQ/RFP/Contract technical specifications and assign actions to the appropriate internal group.
- Work closely with the sales team & contracts specialist to evaluate RFQ’s/RFP’s, negotiate terms, and finalize commercial agreements.
- Develop cost estimates and detailed proposals using internal design methods, costing, and estimating procedures.
- Collaborate internally to manage the creation of technical documentation such as drawings: P&ID’s, GA, weld procedures, and equipment detail.
- Co-ordinate “Bid to Win” strategy sessions with internal stakeholders.
- Follow up on submitted proposals.
- Positively contribute to the creation and continuous improvement of sales and estimation tools, systems, and practices
Project Execution Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with Project Managers, Engineering, Supply Chain, Contract Specialist, and QC to ensure project deliverables are met and product meets client specifications.
- Participate in estimate to actual and job close out review meetings.

- Project Execution – Project Financial Accuracy, Contractual Compliance, and Commercial Relationship
- Product & Project Quality – Design suitability and compliance to internal and external specifications

Qualifications & Educational Requirements:
- 5-10 Years of project estimating experience in a fabrication environment
- Experience working within a dynamic sales environment.
- Mechanical Engineering Degree or Diploma – Registered with APEGA or ASET
- Expert Level- Microsoft suite of products
- Excellent Communication Skills - Fluent in English both written and spoken.
Experience Preferences
- Commercial Experience with process equipment & fabrication environments
- Working Knowledge of B31.1 and ASME B31.3 Pressure Piping Codes
- Working Knowledge of CSA-B149.3 Fuel-Burning Appliances and Equipment
- Waste Gas Destruction, Combustion (Flare, Incineration, & Arrest) &/or Heat Transfer experience.
- Indirect Fired Heaters, Heat Exchangers, WHRU’s & API-560 heaters
- ASME (Section 1, Section VIII Div I)
- Working knowledge of CRM software (Salesforce)
- Knowledge of structural, thermal & pressure vessel design software
- EPC or EPF experience an asset.
