Our Steam Generators
We are among the best designers & manufacturers of industrial steam generators in Canada.
All our projects are customized to your needs and specifications, but there are three broad categories of steam generators that we design, engineer, and manufacture that those custom projects fall under.
Once Through Steam Generators (OTSG)
Designed specifically for steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) and Cyclic Steam Service (CSS) operations in the oilsands, OTSG units are highly robust and designed with simplicity, cost effectiveness, and resourcefulness in mind.
We pioneered OSTGs in Canada, and today, we are the choice for manufacturing Once-Through Steam Generators. And it shows. About 95% of the operating units in western Canada came out of our shop.
Heat Recovery (HRSG)
HRSGs take advantage of the waste heat exhaust from a gas turbine, generating electricity, to produce steam also known as cogeneration. This is an extremely efficient approach to steam generation, and it’s a great choice for companies that need both steam and electricity produced at a steady rate.
Gas Turbine OTSGs (GT-OTSG)
GT-OTSGs are a hybrid approach that take some of the best qualities from a direct fired OTSG and an HRSG system, including the robust operating characteristics of an OTSG and the ability to generate power in cogeneration applications.
Steam Generator Uses
Versatile Technology for EOR & Beyond
Enhanced oil recovery (EOR) companies are the majority of our clients, but they aren’t the only ones who can benefit from steam generation.
Steam Generation for EOR
The most common use for our steam generators is in enhanced oil recovery (EOR) operations. Steam is injected into the reservoir to reduce the viscosity of heavy oil or bitumen, which allows it to flow more easily to production wells.
The quality or “dryness” of the steam used directly influences the unit efficiency and, consequently, the oil recovery rate. Poorly made, damaged, or worn-down steam generators result in either poor quality or inconsistent steam.
Other Industries
While EOR operations in Oil & Gas are the most common use for steam generators, there are other industries that benefit from modification of this technology in thermal fluid applications:
