TIRED OF WAITING TO RUN YOUR TESTS?

Don’t Sacrifice Time For Safe, Accurate Samples

Custom sample coils that cool steam, condensate, and hot water fast — for high-quality samples and test results in a low-quantity of time.

Without proper cooling, a sample pulled from a high-pressure line is a safety concern for your crew and test results you can’t trust. That means re-tests and hours lost to a step that should be simple. A sample cooler designed for your system allows you to streamline your process and turns every sample into an opportunity to save time and money.

It’s Not A Sample — It’s Every Sample

When sampling is a hassle, it gets rushed or skipped, and small problems slip past. Inconsistencies show up as cracked, corroded equipment, unplanned downtime, or a bad-tasting batch. You overfeed chemicals to compensate for unreliable readings, replace tools before their time, and hope the next sample doesn’t end in an incident report. The damage doesn’t happen all at once, and that’s exactly why it keeps costing you.

Built For Industries That Run Hot

These coolers were designed more than 40 years ago for the steam grab samples on our once-through steam generators, where samples come off the line under intense heat and pressure. Since then, that same design has been custom-engineered for countless processes that need a cooled sample, with the connections, materials, and wall thickness each calls for.

Power Generation

Dose By Knowledge, Not Guesswork: Retain treatment chemicals for accurate readings

Our coolers draw feedwater, condensate, and steam samples through a sealed coil that cools them before they can flash. Treatment chemicals remain in the sample, so conductivity and hardness readings reflect your actual cycle, and you can dose to match, without shutting your system down.

Refineries

02 / REFINERIES AND PETRO-CHEMICAL

Take Hot Samples Without The Hazards: A sealed path from process line to sample

Instead of opening a valve on a hot line, operators draw samples through a sealed tube-in-tube coil that cools them before they reach open air. The high-pressure sample tube has no external connections, and every unit ships with a CRN for ASME B31.3 piping. That makes it a sample point your crew can add to their routine.

Chemical Processing

The Right Alloy For All Streams: Matched to your fluid, so it lasts as long in practice as it does on paper

Corrosive streams wear out a cooler made from the wrong alloy, putting your people and your test results at risk. We build each cooler from the material and wall thickness your process calls for, including carbon steel, stainless, Inconel, among others. The coil has no sharp bends and drains fully to limit fouling. The right material depends on your fluid – testing available on request.

Oil and Gas

Four Decades Of Field-Proven Sampling: First built for OTSG steam, now engineered for your process

Our coolers were first built for steam grab samples on TIW’s once-through steam generators. Today we custom-engineer the same design for oil and gas processes that need a cooled sample. We add tube extensions at your preferred connection points so the cooler fits your existing setup, and you can sample with the downtime.

Waste Water

Keep Your Sample Lines Flowing: A drainable coil with no sharp bends for solids to catch on

Hot treatment water carries solids that settle in tight bends, and a plugged cooler means a missed test. Our coils have no sharp bends and drain completely, inner and outer coil alike, so there’s less for solids to catch on and cleanup is quick. The result is a cooler that stays in service and readings you can count on. The design reduces plugging but doesn’t eliminate it, so streams heavy in solids still need routine flushing.

Pharmaceuticals

06 / PHARMACEUTICALS

Keep Contaminants Out of the Equation: Results that stand up in a quality review

When product quality depends on your steam and water systems, a contaminated sample becomes a compliance question. Our coolers work in a sealed, isolated coil that keeps contaminants out and volatile components in, so your results reflect what’s actually in the system. Units come in stainless and specialty alloys, with hydrostatic testing on request. If your system has specific material or finish requirements, share them up front.

Industrial Manufacturing

07 / INDUSTRIAL MANUFACTURING

Testing That Keeps Pace With Production: Pull safe samples on your schedule, not your shutdown schedule

Boilers and hot process lines need regular testing, but shutting down to sample costs production time. Our coolers let you pull a safe, cooled sample whenever you need one while the line keeps running. Because the coolers are modular and use standard tube fittings, we can add extensions to fit the sample points you already have. How it fits depends on your connection type and layout.

Breweries

08 / BREWERIES

Skip The Ice Bath: Readable samples straight from the mash tun or kettle

Hot samples have to cool before a gravity or pH reading means anything, and ice baths and temperature corrections eat into brew day. Our coolers run samples through a sealed stainless coil and deliver them close to your cold water temperature. It’s a sample cooler, not a wort chiller and is sized for small sample flows of 100–500 cc/min, not whole batches.

What do our customers have to say?

WHAT ACTUALLY CHANGES

Disaster Shouldn’t Be Part Of Your Daily Work Routine

Before...

By the time a hot mash sample is cool enough for a pH reading, the window to correct it is closing. Adjustments come late or get skipped.

After

The sample comes out of the coil ready to read, so the brewer can adjust pH early in the mash, while it still makes a difference.

Before...

A system result drifts off trend. No one can say whether the system or the sampling caused it, so the batch record sits on hold during the investigation.

After

Samples cool in a sealed coil, so when a number moves, you know the change is real and the sample point isn't the cause.

Before...

Boiler water testing gets pushed to the end of the shift because cooling a sample takes too long. On busy days, it doesn't happen at all.

After

A cooled sample is ready on demand, so testing fits into the regular round and stops falling off the schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do your sample coolers meet US piping codes?

Every unit is suitable for installation in ASME B31.3 process piping systems, the same code US refineries, chemical plants and pharma facilities already design to. Code compliance applies to your whole piping system, so your engineers have the final say, and requirements can vary by state and facility. Tell us what your site requires, and we'll confirm how we can meet it.

What materials can you build them in?

We supply a variety of versatile materials to suit all applications: Carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex stainless steel, Inconel, and Monel on the sample side combined with carbon or stainless steel on the cooling side. If your process demands a specific material not listed, let us know using the form below or give us a call at 403-279-8310.

Will it work with my existing sample connections?

Most likely. Our coolers are modular and built from standard tube fittings and tubing, so we can add tube extensions at custom connection points to match the connection type you already use. Send us details or photos of your setup, and we'll confirm the fit.

How much maintenance does it need?

The coil has no sharp bends, which cuts down on fouling and plugging, and both the inner and outer coils drain completely, so the cleanup is minimal. Because the coolers are built from standard tube fittings, they're simple to service too.

What's a CRN, and does it matter if I'm in the US?

CRN stands for Canadian Registration Number. In Canada, pressure equipment designs have to be reviewed and registered by provincial safety authorities before they can be installed – each of our units ship with a CRN. You don't need one in the US, but it's a nice bonus: It means an independent government authority has already reviewed the design.

How do I know it's time to replace my current sample cooler?

A few signs to watch for: Visible corrosion or cracking, samples that aren't coming out as cool as they used to, or changes to your system's pressure or temperature since the cooler went in. It's also worth a look if you've added a new high-temperature system that needs frequent testing. If any of that sounds familiar, we can build a replacement engineered for your current conditions.

What are your typical operating parameters?

Sample Flow: 0.0264 - 0.132 USGPM
Cooling Water Flow: 5 USGPM
Cooling Pressure Drop: < 5 PSI
Sample Pressure Drop: < 1 PSI
Sample Approach Temperature: 8°F

Do you ship to the United States?

Yes, our sample cooling coils can be shipped to the US.
