Description

At TIW Western, we are hiring a CNC Operator to join our fabrication shop team in Calgary, AB. Reporting to the Shop Supervisor, the successful candidate will be responsible to accurately fabricate components in a safe and productive environment and ensuring work instructions are carried out as per supervisor directives.

Key responsibilities for this position include operating our CNC plasma machine, plate rolls, press brake, and band saw in order to fabricate components. It's important that the successful candidate has at least 3 years of prior experience operating this equipment, and we would consider previous experience working with CAD software for programming CNC machines to be an asset.

Our CNC Operator should also be able to safely operate the facility equipment. That includes our overhead cranes, forklifts, and rigging equipment.

An ability to read and interpret shop drawings is critical. Part of your responsibilities include checking product shapes, dimensions, and other specifications to ensure they are correct as laid out in the fabrication drawings. The successful candidate would also be responsible for ensuring that tolerances and specifications are met as per company standards.

TIW Western Inc. provides competitive rates and benefits package in a safe, progressive non-union environment. This is a full-time position with 40 hours of work available per week. We operate on a 4-day per week schedule with 10-hour shifts per day, Monday through Thursday.

Duties

  • Operate CNC Plasma Machine
    • Set up and adjust machine tools according to specifications, ensuring proper alignment and calibration
    • Adjust machine settings to ensure optimal performance
    • Load and unload plate utilizing overhead cranes
  • Operate Plate Rolls and Press Brake
    • Lay out, set up and operate
    • Form, bend, roll and shape metal sheets into parts or products
    • Check products for correct shapes, dimensions, and other specifications
  • Operate Band Saw
  • Ensure work instructions are carried out as per Supervisor directives
  • Ensure tolerances and specifications are met as per company standards
  • Read and interpret fabrication drawings and specifications
  • Meet assigned production goals and objectives
  • Comply with company safety and quality standards
  • Perform duties safely, accurately and in a timely manner

Qualifications

  • Experience operating NC Equipment, including CNC plasma burning table
  • Experience operating Band Saw, Plate Rolls and Press Break
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings
  • Ability to use the facility equipment: Overhead cranes, forklift and rigging equipment
  • Previous experience working with CAD software for programming CNC machines will be considered an asset (Pronest, SolidWorks and AutoCAD)
