Description
We are currently looking for an energetic Intermediate Project Engineer with 5-10 years of experience to fill out our growing team. Reporting to the VP of Engineering, this position is based in our Calgary office and has responsibility for project engineering and execution of projects. The successful candidate support Project Managers while managing their own projects when required. In this role, you'll work closely with our estimating, procurement, quality, and project management teams to manage design responsibilities, coordinate with vendors and contractors, and resolve design-related issues across a range of projects.
Duties
- Interact with project management, quality control, aftermarket and drafting departments to ensure designs are carried out to the latest codes and standards as well as Customer specific requirements.
- Read and understand manufacturing drawings, contracts, technical specifications, and design codes such as ASME Section I, API, CSA and others.
- Provide technical support and clarifications, where required, to the production department throughout fabrication.
- Compile project documents, technical reports and sub-contractor bid packages as required to assist the project management and aftermarket team.
- Provide engineering and technical expertise, in addition to project management skills to assist the team in the efficient execution of the project.
- Contribute to planning and executing multi-discipline engineering activities throughout the project life cycle; quotation, detail design, fabrication, site installation, commissioning, startup support as well as support to customer operations.
Qualifications
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills will be required.
- Capable of working under tight deadlines while achieving objectives.
- Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards like ASME, CSA, API, etc.
- Mechanical design & engineering of process or heat transfer equipment, piping, etc.
- Strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and a desire to perform design and project engineering.
- Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with MS Project Scheduler.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently when required; Strong experience in interdisciplinary coordination.
- Ability to travel to vendor/construction sites, when occasionally required.

Education
- Engineering Degree, preferably Mechanical.
- Registered or eligible for registration as a P.Eng., in the Province of Alberta, British Columbia and/or Saskatchewan.
